The Proxy Server is a computer program used by enterprises to
act as an intermediary between user workstations. It is a product
that can ensure security, administrative control, and caching
services. The enterprise networks use proxy servers as a holding
bin to store frequently requested pages, rather than fetching
them repeatedly from the Internet. These proxy servers are available
for all operating systems, including Windows Linux, Solaris,
etc. A proxy server is associated with or is part of a gateway
server that separates the enterprise network from the outside
network.
